Our Director

Troy Allaway was named Director of Bands of Priceville High School in July of 2003. Mr. Allaway established the PHS marching band, which gave its first performance in August of 2003. In its short history, the marching band has earned numerous superior scores and performed in local, state, and national events. He also conducts the PHS concert bands. Under his direction the concert band has performed at the Alabama Bandmasters State Concert Festival for the past four years, earning two superior scores. Mr. Allaway also conducts the Jr. High and beginner bands.

Before coming to PHS, Mr. Allaway was band director at Eva Jr. High School, Lacey's Spring Jr. High School, and Brewer High School. He recieved his Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Music Education from Tennessee Tech University Cookeville, TN and his Master of Music Education degree from Alabama A&M University Huntsville, AL. He is a member of several professional organizations including: MENC, AMEA, ABA, and the national, state, and local education associations.

While in college Mr. Allaway performed with every available ensemble. He was the trumpet section leader and soloist with the Tennessee Tech Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble. He played lead trumpet for the "Troubadours", the universities premier jazz ensemble. He is an alumnus of the multiple time VFW, American Legion, and DCI champion Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps of Rosemont, IL. He currently performs with the orchestra of First Baptist Church Decatur, AL, a brass quintet, and local theatre productions. He happily resides in Morgan County with his wife, Vickie.
